4 by Long Table
Newbern, Alabama

At the Rural Studio everyone: students, professors, tradesmen, artist, and convicts around one table is a symbol for the unity in the process of making things. In order for everyone to have a seat you need a table forty feet long. This design was for a table with no end, since no one should be the head of the table, all who sit are equals. Constructed out of the most common of material: construction grade yellow pine 2 X 4’s, which are planed on all sides, laminated together, and sanded down smooth; the main idea being that if you work on something long enough and hard enough, anything can become beautiful.
